The Kenshikaikan Karate Association held a memorial service on November 19th to commemorate Shuseki Shihan Oliver on the first anniversary of his passing. The memorial was attended by Shuseki’s family, including sisters, brothers, and his wife, Hazel and son Lyle, many of Shuseki’s students and friends and karatekas. Shuseki’s family recalled his young years as a karate student and the good times they had with him while growing up. Shihan Monte Allen, Shihan Leighton Barker, Kyoshi Paul Sookdar, and Senpai Matthew Fremon and others, including Shihan David Washington, Shihan George Ashkar, Jr., and Sensei Errol Bennett, gave moving and heartfelt speeches about their memories and feelings for Shuseki Oliver.
